Senior Seminar Changes

The last time I talked about my senior seminar, it was full of a lot of scrums and sprints and heavy duty vocabulary that was honestly scaring the bajeebus out of me. As of today, the plans have definitely changed.

In the beginning, it looked like I was going to be doing an individual project as well as a community group project and some various speeches/interview projects. Apparently that was a big workload for the professor to be grading also, so that has been cut in half.

I will now mainly be focusing on my senior project. It’s a pretty big relief for me, but of course it’s not all sunshine and daisies. I’m having a bit of trouble trying to pin down a story to go forward with.

I was told that the story has to have a sort of societal message. This makes things a bit more difficult than I previously anticipated. I can’t go forward with a lot of my ideas because I can’t pin down something that I’m really trying to say.

I thought of an idea that would be a sort of female empowerment script which would include a mother telling her daughter a story filled with female strength in order to make her feel good about herself. The cast would be entirely made up of women. It would have been incredibly strong, but I don’t have a child actress in my repertoire that I could rely on to help me bring the film to life.

So now I’m trying to think of something different, whether I revise that script or I start with a completely blank slate. As of right now, I’m undecided. I do have to make my mind up quickly though. I still have a strict timeline that I have to follow, including a project prospectus that will be due sooner rather than later.

Nevertheless, I am excited.
